Visa Sponsorship & Immigration Information
Visa sponsorship and LMIA support may be available for suitably qualified foreign workers through Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP). Depending on your profile, you may also explore the Provincial Nominee Program pathways, including options relevant to Yukon, or longer-term immigration routes such as Express Entry if eligible.
For most employer-sponsored roles in Canada, the employer secures a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) and provides a job offer. You then apply for a work permit with supporting documents, which typically include a valid passport, updated resume, references, proof of work experience, educational or trade credentials, and police and medical clearances if required. English or French language tests are generally not mandatory for employer-specific work permits, but test results can help with certain immigration programs.
The process is straightforward in plain terms: receive a job offer, the employer obtains LMIA, and you apply for your work permit with the required documentation. Processing times vary by country and program. Lay out your documents early to avoid delays.
How to Apply
- Prepare an updated resume/CV in English highlighting relevant kitchen or cooking experience.
- Emphasize skills in food safety, speed, teamwork, and any exposure to Japanese or Asian cuisine.
- State your current work authorization status and your interest in visa sponsorship if applicable.
