Job Summary
Qualicare is a trusted home care provider dedicated to helping clients live safely and comfortably at home. We are seeking warm, reliable caregivers to deliver person-centered care to seniors and individuals with disabilities in the South Island region of British Columbia.
This full-time role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about making a difference through daily support, companionship, and professional care. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Mobility Support: Help with transfers, ambulation, range-of-motion exercises, and safe use of mobility aids.
- Medication Reminders: Prompt clients to take medications as directed and note adherence.
- Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Companionship: Provide social interaction, conversation, and engagement in meaningful activities.
- Light Housekeeping: Maintain a safe, tidy environment including laundry, dishes, and general room upkeep.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Observe and document changes in client condition and communicate with supervisors/families.
- Appointments & Errands: Accompany clients to appointments and help with shopping and essential errands when required.
- Safety & Infection Control: Follow agency protocols, PPE use, and best practices for client and caregiver safety.
- Team Communication: Coordinate with care coordinators, nurses, and family members to support the care plan.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a caregiver, home support worker, or similar role preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English; additional languages an asset.
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable with a client-focused mindset.
- Ability to perform the physical aspects of caregiving, including assisting with transfers.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle preferred (role may involve travel between clients).
- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check (or willingness to obtain).
- Eligibility to work in Canada or qualify for a work permit via LMIA-supported sponsorship.
- Availability for rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Caregiving, Home Support, or Personal Support Worker training/certificate is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- In-home, community-based care across South Island, BC.
- Full-time schedule with shift rotations; hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Frequent standing, walking, and assisting with client transfers.
