Job Summary:

Reporting to the Shop Supervisors, the Shop Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining the ongoing cleanliness and organization of our facility. This position requires an individual who is committed to working in a safe and organized manner, ensuring the smooth operations of daily tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Work in a clean, safe, and organized manner as outlined in the Health and Safety Program.
• Empty garbage containers and chip bins regularly to maintain cleanliness.
• Keep all floors swept and free of debris.
• Clean aisle ways with the automated floor cleaner.
• Ensure bottles containing coolant, oil, thinners, etc., are filled and ready for use with appropriate labeling.
• Maintain employee washrooms, ensuring they are stocked, moped daily, and litter-free.
• Inform the front office when shop supplies need to be purchased.
• Complete daily inspections of overhead cranes.
• Assist in shipping and receiving functions.
• Utilize lift trucks and overhead cranes when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirement:

• Grade 12 O.S.S.D. or equivalent.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license.
• Ability to work steady afternoons.
• Willing and able to achieve lift truck and crane certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Previous experience operating and inspecting overhead cranes is an asset.
• On-the-job training will be provided. Experience in a machine shop would be an asset.
