You will operate tractors and attachments to keep nursery and field operations running smoothly and efficiently throughout the growing season.

This role is ideal for candidates who take pride in safe machinery operation and want to build Canadian agricultural experience. Canadian residents and international applicants are welcome to apply; employer-supported LMIA/work permit may be considered for qualified foreign workers in line with Canadian immigration rules and operational needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tractor Operation: Safely operate tractors and relevant implements (e.g., loaders, tillers, trailers) for daily farm tasks.
  • Field Preparation: Assist with soil cultivation, bed forming, and site prepping for nursery and crop areas.
  • Planting Support: Tow and assist with planters and other nursery equipment to support seeding and transplanting activities.
  • Material Handling: Haul soil, compost, plants, and supplies between fields, nurseries, and storage areas.
  • Equipment Care: Complete pre- and post-operation checks, monitor fluid levels and tire pressure, perform basic upkeep, and keep machinery clean.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow standard operating procedures, use PPE, and report hazards or equipment issues promptly.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate tasks with supervisors and crew members to meet daily production goals.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain simple logs for equipment use, hours, and maintenance checks as required.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience operating farm tractors and basic implements is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physically able to perform manual tasks and handle repetitive movements and lifting as needed.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work early mornings, weekends, and peak seasonal periods.
  • Eligible to work in Canada; LMIA/work permit support may be considered for qualified foreign applicants.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor nursery and farm environment with exposure to varying weather.
  • Standing, bending, and operating equipment for extended periods.
  • Full-time hours with possible overtime during peak seasons, in accordance with BC Employment Standards.
  • Personal protective equipment provided as required for tasks.

Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly pay (CAD $18.50–$24.00) based on experience.
  • Stable, full-time role within an established BC nursery.
  • On-the-job training and ongoing safety guidance.
  • Supportive, respectful workplace culture.
  • Opportunity to gain Canadian agricultural experience; seasonal options may be available.

Visa Sponsorship & Immigration Information:

Qualified international candidates may be considered for visa sponsorship through a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) under Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) Agricultural Stream. Eligibility and sponsorship decisions depend on business needs and government approval and are not guaranteed.

Depending on your background, you may also explore longer-term immigration pathways such as the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) or federal options like Express Entry (where applicable to your occupation and profile). Prepare a valid passport, detailed resume, references, proof of relevant farm machinery experience, and any training certificates. Language test results (e.g., IELTS General) may be beneficial for some immigration programs, though not always required for the TFWP.

The LMIA process verifies that a Canadian employer needs a foreign worker for the role and that no Canadian worker is available. If approved, you would apply for a work permit using the LMIA and job offer. The employer will provide guidance if sponsorship is pursued.

How to Apply:

  • Prepare an updated resume/CV in English tailored to tractor and farm equipment experience.
  • Highlight relevant duties (tillage, hauling, equipment checks, safety practices) and any certifications.
  • State your current work authorization status in Canada (if any).
  • Include contactable references from previous farm or equipment roles, if available.
  • Submit your application through the apply button on this page.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
