Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is seeking responsible and compassionate Child Care Assistants to support early learning programs in St. Eustache, MB. In this role, you will work alongside lead educators to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Activity Support: Assist lead educators with planning and running daily learning and play activities.
  • Child Supervision: Monitor children during indoor/outdoor play, learning sessions, and rest times.
  • Care Routines: Help children with meals/snacks, dressing, toileting, and hygiene routines.
  • Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a tidy, organized classroom; sanitize toys and surfaces per health guidelines.
  • Behavior Guidance: Encourage positive behavior and support social-emotional development.
  • Materials Prep: Set up learning centers, prepare supplies, and rotate educational materials.
  • Communication: Share observations with the team and, when directed, relay updates to parents/guardians.
  • Records & Compliance: Follow center policies, health and safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Inclusion & Culture: Foster a welcoming space that respects diverse backgrounds and Métis culture.

Requirements:

  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada or ability to obtain a work permit (visa sponsorship may be considered).
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (or willingness to obtain before start).
  • Experience working with children is preferred; strong interest in early childhood care is essential.
  • Reliable, patient, and team-oriented with good communication skills.
  • Physically able to stand, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
  • Availability for full-time shifts and occasional overtime per program needs.

Education:

  • High school diploma (required).
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework or assistant certification (asset).
  • Current First Aid/CPR (asset); Food Handler certification (asset).
